American Fish & Seafood Co. is proud to service a variety of retail and food service customers. In addition to major supermarket chains and specialty seafood retailers, we supply fine restaurants, hotels, cruise ship lines and military commissaries. We currently distribute over one million pounds of inspected seafood weekly, all backed by our guarantee of freshness and quality.
Through many years of growth and success, American Fish & Seafood has never lost sight of our original motto… "Distribute only the freshest, finest quality seafood."
To process, distribute, and sell the finest quality fresh and frozen seafood and related products, offering superior value, expertise and customer service to our customers nationwide.
As World War II ended George Doizaki, founder of American Fish & Seafood, had a vision to supply the public with quality seafood. His vision was accomplished by obtaining the best seafood suppliers, and dedicating himself and his company to good customer service.
The world has moved closer together, bringing improvements and innovations in handling and packaging. These are technologies that anyone can acquire, and there is no question that competitive pricing can make the difference between profit and loss in most foodservice operations, but it is a factor in any successful company.
Given those simple but important facts of the business world, George convinced his future partners, Harry Fujino and Masuro Okamato, that in the future it would be people, and the service they can provide to customers that would ultimately provide the foundation on which to build a successful business. It was then that in 1947 American Fish and Seafood Company was born.
After George's death in 1982, Ernie Doizaki, George's son became the President. After 18 years of being exposed to the seafood industry, Ernie had developed an understanding and a passion for his father's vision.
With George Doizaki's longtime friend, George M. Cohan as Chairman of the Board, Ernie moved the company into a brand new facility and a new era in the seafood industry.
After the passing of Mr. George M. Cohan in 1997, Ernie Doizaki made the strategic move of becoming the Chairman of the Board, and asked James E. Lanter in 2002 to assist him in running the company by becoming the new CEO/President of American Fish & Seafood Company.
Since Jim Lanter has become CEO/President of American Fish & Seafood Company, the company has enjoyed “continual growth and success over the last half” decade (As printed in Los Angeles in Focus Published by Imprint Publications, LLC, Copyright 2004). Jim Lanter is a Business Administration graduate from the University of Southern California , and has been a dedicated employee of American Fish & Seafood Company for over 21 years.
The Network - Technology
Assembling a team of executives skilled in purchasing, finance, sales and marketing, Ernie Doizaki as Chairman of the Board and James E. Lanter as CEO/President, are leading American Fish & Seafood Company through unprecedented growth.
Today, American Fish and Seafood Company operates facilities around the country for one simple reason, which is to service our customers when and how they need it.
A new 65,000 square foot, state-of the-art facility is currently under construction in Los Angeles , CA . This will be the new headquarters for the company, which will be equipped with the latest technologies, that will help American Fish & Seafood Company employees monitor changing weather conditions, market trends, product availability, and pricing, so we can deliver useful and accurate information to help our customers make their buying decisions.
Food Safety
Los Angeles is the world's center for seafood distribution. From here, we can meet the needs of customers with a wide range of needs and concerns. From retail users to cruise ship lines, military commissaries to world class hotels, we offer our customers a diverse range of products with and equally diverse range of package and preparation types.
Of course, servicing the needs of our customers requires huge quantities of fresh and frozen seafood products. We bring these products to our facilities from locations all over the world. This in itself can be an enormous challenge, but our goal of providing only the best quality products requires American Fish and Seafood Company to voluntarily employee federal inspectors seven days a week to monitor plant conditions, plant sanitation, label review, and laboratory analysis of all our products. The National Marine Fisheries Service, a part of the U.S. Department of Commerce (USDC), also helps in the administration of the seafood inspection program at American Fish and Seafood Company.
We go above and beyond what is required of us to insure our customers get only the best and the very freshest quality seafood products.
Distribution
The American Fish and Seafood Company network currently operates six (6) large distribution/operation facilities to provide the logistic capabilities to deliver any kind of fresh or frozen seafood product, anywhere, in the freshest possible condition.
Each distribution center handles specific seafood products matched to their region and/or to the market driven needs. American Fish and Seafood Company locations are designed to meet their local customer's needs and are designed to be a part of the total product network.
Integrating the processes of harvesting, processing a distribution requires a complex system of data analysis and information gathering. Whether it is tray packaging, or bulk packaging frozen products, all are well insulated and maintained at consistent temperatures until they are delivered to you.
